En Provence Mystery: Fabric Selection
It's that time of year again. Bonnie Hunter just released the first clue for her annual mystery quilt on Friday. It's been several years since I participated, and I am quite excited to play along this year.
The name of this year's mystery is En Provence. When Bonnie visited Provence this year, she was inspired by the colors of the lavender fields. The colors she chose for the mystery quilt are: dark purple, lavender, avocado green, yellow, magenta, and neutrals.
I really like her color choices, but I decided I wanted to do something a little bit different. My favorite place to look for color inspiration is Design Seeds. I pinned this image several years ago and decided it was just the thing for this year's mystery.
Using this image as a loose guide, I chose my fabrics for the mystery. I have very few scraps, so I'm using one fabric for each color. I am using very dark grey, blue, dark purple, coral, golden yellow, and a light blueish grey.
As far as sewing goes, I got off easy this week. The clue was to make scrappy neutral four patches. Since I only have one background color, I will be using plain squares instead of four patches. Fortunately, my background fabric has a lot of movement in it, so I think it will work out well.
I am joining in with Bonnie's Mystery Monday Link-Up. Check it out to see what everyone else is making.
