Labyrinth
This was the first quilt that I custom quilted for a customer. The pattern is Labyrinth by Debbie Maddy for Tiori Designs (pattern available in digital download and hard copy). Kari Ames is the maker.
I did the center entirely freehand. I used wavy points in each of the star points, small stippling in the cream background, and straight lines in the inner squares around the star.
From there, the designs get more intricate. There are swirls in the outer brown square, hexagons in the outer blue square, and some fancy feathers in the cream. I think the feathers in the cream is my favorite part of this whole quilt! I love how visible they are.
Unfortunately, my pictures of the borders didn't come out as well, but you can still get an idea of the quilting. I did straight lines in the brown borders, and some different fancy feathers in the blue rectangles. In the outer blue border, I did a woven Celtic design.
The outermost green border has large feathers with pearls in the spine. My machine did not like to stitch that design, so as beautiful as it is, I don't plan on using it again.
This quilt was a labor of love. It's a lot bigger than it looks. It measures 90X108, and it took me about 100 hours to quilt it. After all that time, I'm very glad that it came out so beautifully, and that Kari really likes it.
